What does The Governing Body of Suomenlinna do?

The Governing Body of Suomenlinna has a wide range of duties. They include restoration and maintenance of the fortress, buildings and landscape, leasing of business facilities and apartments, provision of information and administration of Suomenlinna.

World Heritage Site manager

As the manager of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the government agency is responsible for preserving the monument and associated historical and architectural values for future generations, too. The World Heritage Convention obliges the Finnish government to see to it that the fortress remains in an optimally authentic condition.
